The Institute of Amazon & Andean Medicine (ITAAM)
produces a peer-reviewed Journal of Traditional
Amazon Medicine (JTAM) which is circulated worldwide
among professional herbalists, medical doctors, alternative
health clinics, universities and scholars.

ITAAM is dedicated to the research, development and promotion of traditional healing, medicines and herbs of South America. Our topics include medical anthropology, herbology, ethnobotany, native land rights and education for alternative medical practices in all countries of South America. Through our efforts, ITAAM provides a platform for experts from South America to publish their research in a world wide forum.

Our goal is to provide a voice for traditional healers, students, researchers, universities, laboratories, botanists, anthropologists, ethnologists, eco-companies and tribal leaders from South America. As a part of this concerted effort, we are now creating a network of review panelists. We invite you to join us and become an active member by contributing your articles or expertise to the ITAAM. It’s a free membership if you are a contributor or reside and work in South America.

We believe that our peer-reviewed publication, comprising of practitioners, medical anthropologists, researchers and traditional healers will aid in the equitable promotion of traditional South American medical practices. To foster this process, ITAAM will sponsor annual symposiums offering classes and workshops in both the U.S. and South America. Through our consortium of researchers, we are focused on bringing to light the rich background and endless possibilities that are presented by the study of South American plant medicines, alternative therapies and the medical botany of both contemporary Latin American society and Amerindian civilizations.

If you are a researcher, medical doctor, botanist, ecologist, biology student, curandero, or photo journalist, we desire your participation in order to increase the quality, balance and credibility to these fields of study and the educational systems that lend support to the marketplace outside of South America.

We invite your topical articles for submission and review in any language. Payment is based upon content. Editorials and letters to the editor are taken under review by our panel and editorial staff. Our circulation base in the USA is currently 15,000. Please include your curriculum vitae, a resume or biography with each solicited article. We respect all levels of education and practical training.

At the Institute of Traditional Amazon & Andean Medicine, we believe that empirical wisdom and modern science can combine important resources for a long term vision of biological health.
